In the introduction we considered some general principles about how one is to approach or which one may adopt in Christology. It became evident that we cannot adopt any purely natural or historical approach to Christ, without at the same time eliminating every possibility of regarding him in any other way than as mere man; and that is of course an arbitrary assumption which begs the whole question at issue.
